Depart to Serve
Saturday, October 14 - Sunday, October 15, 2017
IMPORTANT ....some missions are on Saturday and some are on Sunday, so make sure you note the day!
Depart to Serve in 2017 will be Saturday, October 14 & Sunday October 15th. Depart to Serve is an important weekend in the life of our church. Last year over 300 people, individuals and families, focused on serving others outside of our Church. As the hands and feet of God we put our faith into action through worship and service through various missions in serving our community.

Project Transformation is a non-profit organization that provides summer and after-school programs for underserved children and youth in low-income neighborhoods. The summer reading program helps children maintain their reading skills during the summer months. Mid-high youth to adults are invited to help in this ministry to inner city children and the college interns who serve them. FMUMC participates one week in June and one week in July. Exact dates for 2018 will be published in the spring of 2018.

One + One Mentoring
Communities in Schools of North Texas (CISNT) supports at-risk students in North Texas schools by providing drop-out prevention programs. Mentoring is statistically the most impactful volunteer program, providing both academic and emotional support. It is also the largest volunteer commitment, involving a one-on- one relationship that is based on mutual respect and trust. Meetings take place the same day and time each week in order to bring consistency into the often inconsistent lives of the at-risk students served. Mentors MUST be willing to commit to hour-long, weekly meetings for the remainder of the school year.
FMUMC partners with CISNT through its mentoring program at Lewisville High School - Harmon during the school year. LHS - Harmon is a 9th and 10th grade school in Lewisville that feeds Lewisville High School.
This is a very rewarding opportunity for both the student and the mentor. Both men and women are needed! Men mentor male students and women mentor female students.
To get started, complete the CISNT Volunteer Form here. By completing this form, you will be notified when the volunteer application process begins for the 2016-2017 school year in August.
