CCA Back-to-School Program

You can help a child have a great start to the school year!

This local mission project is designed to ensure that school age children from low income single- parent and two-parent working families get off to a great start for the new school year. You can help support CCA’s Back-to- School program by making a monetary donation in any amount you choose, to assist with the cost of new clothing, new shoes, and a new backpack.

A gift of $110 will provide one child with:

  • 2 new outfits of clothing   $70
  • New pair of shoes   $15
  • Socks and undergarments    $10
  • New backpack    $15

The 2015 CCA Back-To- School Program helped 1,205 local children gear up for a successful school year! To help, simply write your check payable to FMUMC and note in the lower left corner, “CCA Back-to- School-Program”. If you prefer to donate online, go to our secure website https://www.fmumc.org/about-us/online-giving and enter/create your account. Select “CCA Back-to- School Program” as your gift designation and enter your donation amount. You can make your donations anytime through July 31st. You may be thinking that the last school year just ended, but this gives CCA workers and volunteers plenty of time to purchase the items and set up the Back-to- School Store.

FMUMC has always been very generous in supporting this program. Last year our church donated over $16,000 towards this effort. Let’s once again help make this a low stress and exciting start to the school year for these local families!

Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Drives

FMUMC is a long-time supporter of CCA’s holiday food drives, providing much-needed grocery items, frozen turkeys and monetary donations to struggling local families. CCA provides Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to approximately 800 families in the local community.  A complete meal averages $40.

In 2015, FMUMC contributed $10,350 to the Thanksgiving drive and $8,992 to support the Christmas drive.

BELIZE MISSION 2017

For the fifth year in a row a Mission Team from FMUMC will visit the Burrell Boom Methodist Church and School in Burrell Boom, Belize, July 2nd – 8th.  Due to a recent hurricane there is much work to be done.  As usual the team will help with the Vacation Bible School in the morning and then work on various projects around the church and school campuses.  While the Burrell Boom Methodist Church has been around much longer than our church they do not have the resources that our church can provide.  One area the team will concentrate on is refurbishing the recreation area along with painting where needed.  The trip will end with a fun day where team members either take a guided tours of Mayan ruins or a guided snorkel trip to Belize’s barrier reef, the second largest reef in the world or possibly even cave tubing experience. For more information contact Jay Graham

“The personal and spiritual growth I've experienced getting to serve in Belize the past three years have been incredible. One of the reasons I love this trip so much is because of our church's consistency - we go for the people in Burrell Boom, we serve with them and we develop relationships there. You can see our progress each year, too; not just in the buildings or projects we work on but also in the children and people we spend time with. When they remember your name, or a Biblical activity we showed them the previous year, it's just the most incredible feeling.”

Boy’s Ranch Mission Trip (Gore, OK) Update

Twenty five folks participated in our mission to the Methodist Boys Ranch in Gore, OK during Memorial Day Weekend including two families who only recently joined FMUMC. They repaired fences, refurbished playgrounds, and helped clean up around the ranch. Most importantly they had a great pizza party for the boys followed by a fun game of kickball. Everyone agreed that is was a blessed experience to be serving others in the name of Christ.
