MISSION KIDS
Mission Kids is weekly opportunity for kids to engage in service to the community. As United Methodists we believe in the importance of serving our neighbor in God's love. As we navigate through COVID, we are finding new ways for our children to continue to share in service and compassion to others.
Acolytes
Calling all 3rd through 5th graders!
Would you like to be an acolyte?
An acolyte is:
- A 3rd through 5th grader who wants to help in worship
- A servant of Christ, who brings the “light of Christ” into the sanctuary and light the candles on the altar at the opening of worship
- An assistant to the pastor by handing the offering plates to the ushers
- One who extinguishes the candles and carries the “light of Christ” out of the sanctuary after worship.
Please contact Jan Call, to volunteer, or for more information.

How Parents/Families Can Support Children’s Faith Development Children’s Ministry?
FMUMC seeks to partner with parents as we strive to develop a whole and well-rounded Christian child. Understanding that Sunday School is only 1 hour each week, we want to provide encouragement as well as some necessary tools for parents to incorporate faith into their weekly lives at home, promoting an environment where each child may learn to live out that faith in prayer, service, giving, study, etc. We invite you to discuss the sermons, Sunday school lessons and activities each week with your children, pray with your children daily, and allow your children to see and hear your faith in action.
How Can Volunteers Support Children’s Ministry Programs at FMUMC?
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are all called to share our gifts in service within the church, in the community, and in the world. Most of us wish to contribute in some vital way but are often unsure where our gifts lie and/or how they can best be used. We would like to encourage you to discover your spiritual gifts - those talents or abilities, given to us by God through the Holy Spirit, which empower us to serve God and others.
A good spiritual gift assessment may be found online through the United Methodist Church at: www.umc.org/what-we-believe/spiritual-gifts-online-assessment.
