Welcome to

Sonshine Kids Preschool

Sonshine Kids firmly believes the foundation for all learning is nurtured through a fun hands-on learning environment that develops each child’s sense of self-worth, individual creative expressions, and their unique strengths. Our center-based preschool classrooms are full of opportunities for learning, socialization, and growth. Weekly themes are used to support various early childhood concepts that build the child’s literacy, math, music, art, and social skills. To support our weekly themes, we use a variety of curriculums including ‘Handwriting without Tears’, ‘Abeka’, and also align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). In addition, we offer music, P.E., computer lab, and sensory lab. At Sonshine Kids, Christian learning is infused throughout the day and through the weekly interactive Chapel time for the entire school.

Sonshine Kids staff have a passion and calling to teaching in the early childhood setting and bring a unique blend of personal and professional experience to our program. All teachers are required to complete a minimum of 26 continuing education training hours each year and are also First Aid and CPR certified.

About Us

Our Mission & Goals

Mission Statement

As a mission of Flower Mound United Methodist Church, we strive to serve and equip students and their families to grow spiritually, socially, physically, emotionally, and academically as unique children of God, in a secure, nurturing, Christian and professional environment.

Goal

As a ministry of Flower Mound United Methodist Church that began in 1999; the goal of Sonshine Kids is to provide a quality preschool education in a Christian environment where we teach the Christian Faith in accordance with the United Methodist doctrine. This encourages preschool success through an atmosphere that affirms each student as a capable, significant, and loved child of God. Individual growth in the learning process, responsibility, and respectfulness is encouraged. Our school rejoices in recognizing each child’s uniqueness and individual differences.

Our philosophy is simple; to provide developmentally appropriate activities, prepare children to exceed in their future education endeavors, give children the skills needed to self-regulate when the world does not go their way, and build a strong Christian foundation. All while allowing the child to be a child and to learn through play.
